Everyone knows that pollution is bad for them and for the environment. But now scientists have found that soot particles could cause blood clots! Soot in the air from factories and car exhaust contains microscopic flecks, called particulate matter, that goes into your lungs along with oxygen and everything else you inhale. From your lungs the particulate matter goes into your blood stream, where it flows to your legs and can cause clotting. This blood clotting in the legs can lead to deep vein thrombosis, a lethal disorder that affects about 2 million people each year. Scientists do not know exactly why the particulate matter causes blood clotting, but they think it may make the veins and arteries inflamed, causing them to clot. Particulate matter is also suspected to play a part in high blood pressure, diabetes, and neurological disorders like Alzheimer's disease.

Thats really scary that you could possibly get blood clotting walking through a city near factories. This makes me wonder how many cases of this there were, and what the factories plan on doing about this.
i can't believe that you could get blood clots from factories. that pretty much makes it unsafe to live anywhere but in the middle of country where there's nothing near you. that's not even right.
